Something about Friendster…

Have a Friendster account? I had one too.

Ever deleted your main Friendster account? Well, I did; and it wasn’t too long ago.

It’s 2 weeks already and none of the people in my friend list actually realised I wasn’t in theirs anymore! How amazing is that? Friendster indeed.

Anyway my point of view about Friendster is still the same a few years back when Friendster just started and I rejected offers by my friends to create an account, and now that I had actually created one and then be done with it — Friendster is pointless. I don’t wish to stereotype but for most cases it has been useless and pointless.

According to Friendster, in their newsletter they claimed they had 16 million registered users. I don’t have any statistics with me, but I am guessing it’s fair that at least 2 millions are repeated accounts, sort of like cutegirl account I, cutegirl account II, cutegirl account III or coolhunk account I, coolhunk account II, coolhunk account III.

How did he or she manage so many friends, you ask?

One way that would surely work is to put up pictures of a really pretty/handsome you. If you are a female with a really pretty face, post up many of them and you’re bound to be flooded with invitations to be friend! You can almost count on me for that. And if you have a really demonic figure then please take a photograph of yourself showing it off. Or a top naked backview one will definitely increase invitation counts!

How do I know? Because I almost fell for it (and I mean adding them, not posting naked pictures of myself, mind you!) before my morale implications took place. That kind of implications that the mind reminded itself that I didn’t create a Friendster account to add strangers; just to add those that I knew in a game named Ragnarok Online. Although later in life, some real life friends found me and invited me to be friends which I couldn’t possibly reject. And don’t ask me what’s with the morale implications, it’s too complicated to talk about.

In all seriousness, I have nothing against Friendster. And nothing with those who utilise the service. I’m serious. I just find it very amazing that people can add a full list of 500 friends, and then proceed to create a second account, and a third… and so on. Then one day when any of the account’s friend count actually drops a number or two, all they will ever know is that someone was gone from the list, but not who.

Hello? Friendster! Friends. Why bother adding in the first place if you know one day it will be gone without you even realising? For the friend count eh? Honestly I’m so jealous how some people can hit 500 friend counts! I guess I have to blame it that I’m not handsome… I’ll survive… though as a sore loser I have to bitch about it! LOL.

Alternatively I guess Friendster did allow people to make friends, which is why I shouldn’t stereotype everyone. But I guess Friendster is being abused too much. :) And that sucks, but who am I to care?

And I am aware that they have their own rights to do what they want with Friendster or not, and here I have mine to talk about Friendster in my view… so yea we strike a balance. ;)

At any rate, I’m going to invite friends to my new Friendster account now. (grins)

Atta boy, draco!
