The earthquake that woke Asia..
I heard about it since yesterday - people on IRC, MSN, websites, and partially the News anchor who was doing the report.
But it was until today when I finally saw the News instead of just hearing the reports intermittenly that I realised the earthquake that occured at West Sumatra was very serious. Footage of the waves sweeping into the mainland, people running away in fears, buildings being knocked down were shown on TV. The footage of the survivors identifying their dead family members was even more sad. Sheesh, magnitude of 9.0 on the Richter Scale is no joke. Death tolls all over Asia went over 20 000 already, and it’s only estimated and not determined yet.
And then the damage caused by the quake (and the waves) would soon be calculated after the rescue works are in place… I guess they need some donations already…
