Gong xi fa cai!

Well, well, look what’s here. It’s the festive season! Lunar New Year! A Gong xi gong xi to everyone who’s reading this.

Yes, and that will happen 2 days later from date of writing this entry - Febuary 9th when most Chineses will go visiting and children seeking red packets from the married couples and elderly. And most likely I’m one of those children too. Man, I bet it would be more exciting if I am still entitled to getting red packets but recent years had shown that I am most probably not going to get any anymore. And that isn’t very nice (of the married ones!). Perhaps they thought I’m a grown-up who no longer needs the excitement of red packets to spice up my new year, but they got it all wrong… totally wrong! However sadly I can’t complain to anyone, except whining here. (Man, I’ll post back if I eventually get any!)

I remember I used to count the amount of red packets I got back then, and getting all excited because of extra incomes to spend but the majority of it all came from both my parents, leaving only around 20-30% of the entire amount from the relatives that visited us or we did them. And over the years, almost like an unstoppable trend, they started to stop giving me red packets at all, and the percentage of their share is plunging! I was shocked over my past recent years findings, but I guessed it was just a token of good bliss anyway. But hey, I just can’t stop wondering why the intake is dropping!

I should just tag myself “KID” when I go visiting when the times come and hope someone notices a poor soul here that wants a red packet. It’s not that I’m cheapskate, or craving for more money (By no mean do I look like $_$), I just want a red packet like every unmarried person does, before I eventually get married and start being the source of red packets. The lack thereof has been making me reluctant to do visitings, really. And that I’m guilty of. No motivations I say. But that’s just the lazy me.

At any rate, Happy (early) Chinese New Year you guys out there. From every part of the globe. :)
