A new monitor.
As announced in one of the previous post, my monitor went crazy. And when I first told Eric about my (monitor’s) mishap, he proposed that I went over to his house to borrow his monitor and I thought it was a joke!
So after taking a week to consider the distance and gravity formulaes, I figured that I should really borrow his monitor. And as a result, I’m now empowered with a new makeshift 15″ monitor. (Courtesy of Eric, thanks!)
Four years ago when I had a monitor breakdown, there was another friend of mine (Kiak Pheng) who also lent me his spare monitor. Wow, coincidence or is it because I have done enough good deeds for great karma points? I wonder!
But anyway, Operation Teh $1 was a total failure. I was greeted with all sorts of notices warning that the trolleys should only be used in the supermarket premises when I stepped into the place. When I finally decided to ask if I could actually borrow one for personal use and return it soon after, I saw a very big piece of notice at the counter that further confirmed me that I shouldn’t even ask. For fear that the cashier might not even bother to reply and just point to that piece of paper as though I couldn’t read. I didn’t want to be embarassed, so in the end I didn’t ask. (die la, like that how to get girlfriend? abit abit only shy liao!)
Yup, you got it right. I carried the monitor home, on foot. The distance from Eric’s house to mine wasn’t great enough to require a cab, but at the same time wasn’t short enough to be termed relaxing. And to make things worse, it was noon and a 10 minutes slog under the scorching sun felt like forever. So near yet so far finally applied when I was so near my house. Besides, I think I overworked some muscles too, ouch! Boy, I should really exercise more often. Join me, anyone?
Anyway, although now the monitor is working and my eyes no longer need to be strained, I can’t do much because I suspect something is wrong with the hard disk or RAM. More details next time when I find out more. :)
Now I’ll pin my hopes on next week’s PC Show at Singapore Expo for a new LCD monitor! I can’t wait. ;)
