... is where Sunny Wong writes about nothing in particular and everything in general.

Can’t live without her.

Whenever I have the chance to have her, I would push her away, thinking that I wouldn’t ever need her.

Everyday I get to see her, and she’s always within my reach but I’ll always find ways not to have her in my life.

Never did I realise that I could have almost been in a predicament without her. Now I’ll cherish her forever in my life, because I don’t know when I’ll ever need her again; and I’m not taking the chance.

Never again.

Today I was supposed to meet up with some friends for a birthday celebration of some sort, at a place that required taking a bus that I had never travelled in before — this is the path to getting lost.

So you see, I’m a person with very bad sense of directions so I had predicted that I would get lost, naturally. And most of the times, I had to locate where exactly to alight with the use of a cell phone. But today, my laziness had caused my battery to go dead; and it’s only because I went to school with the battery power of 1 bar.

I missed my bus stop. And naturally I didn’t realise it until it was like 15 minutes later. So I gathered the last remaining power of my cell phone and gave my friend a call to inform him of my whereabout and he decided that I should take a cab instead but alas, before I could make out what his address was, my phone died. The timing couldn’t be anymore perfect, seriously.

Great, I took the same bus service number on the opposite route and decided to try my luck again; and this time with the help of the bus driver to inform me when I had reached.

Draco : Hi Uncle, how long do I need before I reach the Eunos MRT station?
Bus driver : Very fast.
Draco : Could you inform me when I’m there?
Bus driver : You have never been there before?
Draco : No.
Bus driver : How else would you know this bus goes past there?
Draco : A friend told me.

I guess he didn’t think that I could actually have a friend who had taken the bus to the destination before. But anyway, he signalled to me when I eventually reached. Helpful bus driver, now it makes me feel like I shouldn’t complain about the raise in bus fare afterall.

Problem #1 was solved. Now it’s how do I tell them that I was already there so they could fetch me. And then as I walked into the MRT station, the telephone booth that I wouldn’t have taken a second look of attracted my attention — that was exactly what I needed.

All right, not really exactly because I would need coins to feed the phone. Searching through my pouch I dug out a $1 coin that I had kept a backup in case my ezLink empties without my knowledge. The machine would accept it but I figured it was an overkill for a $1 coin so I continued digging and then I remembered that I had 2 10cents coins that I had kept as a result of changes for some food that I bought in the day.

The 10 cents coins that I would usually push away or put aside when they’re in my reach because too many of them would weigh my pouch down. And right then, I was so in dire need of them. What irony.

So I made 2 phone calls with that coins and finally met up with my friends. Happy ending.

Right then I decided that I would never again leave house without a handphone that’s fully charged, 3 10 cents coins, and a $1 coin. I can’t live without them. And I shall never ever think less of anything that doesn’t appear useful because I will never know when I’ll need them. And I should never take things for granted too — nothing is for sure.

Wow, that’s how much a night’s incident could change my life.
