... is where Sunny Wong writes about nothing in particular and everything in general.

Happy National Day!

First thing first, Happy National Day.

Didn’t think I will enjoy the National Day Parade today, but I was lucky enough to catch it when the soldiers were doing their marches and the armoury driving in. I enjoyed that 10 minutes of vehicles showing-off.

I’ve also enjoyed and been moved (somehow everytime I watch it) by the down memory lane video clip that talks about the history from a long time back till the present.

The fireworks and the song “Reach out for the skies” were nicely done too.

No, the other items were all nicely done too. I believed the performers had put in their best rehearsing just for today and me, being the one sitting at home watching it on TV who had none efforts is in no position to criticise or judge them. So kudos to everyone who put in efforts!

And no, it’s not that I’m not patriotic, but somehow watching the (almost expectable and) same events taking place annually is not really my style. No, please don’t judge me — I’m proud to be a Singaporean if you are doubting me.

I don’t know Singapore’s history very very well, but I think I’ve known enough to say that I’m especially proud of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew who built up Singapore through the beliefs he held on to over the years. Kudos to him.

And second on the list is Mr. Goh Chok Tong whose national day rally/speech I really loved. Too bad he’s been replaced, but well well, I’ve enjoyed listening to them while they lasted.

Oh well, I shouldn’t go on further in case I get sued for saying the wrong thing. So I’ll stop while I’m ahead and once again I’ll say this :

Happy 40th National Day, Singapore.

I do care. :-) Singapore is my home! Go Singapore, go.
