Steps into 2006.
Obviously I’m excited about 2006. And I know a lot who share the same sentiment.
But I have no idea why they do. As for me, I have a guide that I apply to myself every new year to make sure I’ll end up having a fresh state of mind to begin with the next year. If you must, think of it as a fresh reinstallation of an Operating System, which means I’ll be back to the old carefree me with no worries of the previous year.
Here goes:
- Any promises I’ve made in this year that didn’t state an expiry date will expire. Call in to find out if your promises have expired but more often than not I won’t bother.
- All the words I’ve said, and things I’ve done in this year will be archived into “history”. And there they will be, categorised as the past and more often than not, will never be mentioned again..
- All unhappiness in this year will be forgotten. Stale memories are never good candidates to be brought into a new year.
- Happy ones linger though. I have no means to stop happy memories from appearing from time to time.
- Lessons learnt in this year, will also be retained and stacked on previous years’ experiences. So I won’t make the same ol’ silly mistakes.
You may think it’s a lot of work I’ve brought upon myself, but here’s the trick. All I have to do is figure out what lessons I’ve learnt, and with regards to the other points, I’ll just not bother about them. I don’t need to remember what I’ve said or promise or done to forget them, nifty?
And you may think what I’ve mentioned is redundant. But the upside to the entire event is that I get to start afresh, and it’s worth it, beside there isn’t much work to be done, really.
At any rate, I’m done with the thinkings and preparations; I’m a new man now.
