In response to Eric’s and more…
Eric posted an entry that mentioned me! So I’ll post a rather lengthy response here in my blog.
devsync revamp
I didn’t announce the revamp because I meant it as a placeholder in case I have potential customers. The old design did not work well to tell what we do, and how to contact us if our services are needed. At least now the revamp does what I need it to.
Besides, creative juices are dry now so I have no choice but to slate the actual version 2 for release indefinitely.
Web standards
In his post, Eric felt that complying to the web standards when deploying my shoutbox (graffiti) is not neccessary because million of bloggers don’t know and don’t care. And I couldn’t agree more, really.
But truth is, my adhering to doing the right thing (eg: the web standards) has nothing to do with whether people care or not — I do it because I care. Just bear in mind that 2 wrongs don’t make 1 right and millions of people doing the wrong thing doesn’t mean I have to follow suit.
I’m not a HTML purist and I don’t preach HTML/CSS already. I have learnt to accept the fact that there will always be table-based layouts and whatnot until every web designer and his dogs believe that HTML/CSS is the way for web design. If they don’t, I couldn’t be bothered — he’s entitled to believe the tables can bring him happiness like I am to my standards beliefs. And as long as the W3C continues to make sense with their web specifications, I’ll stick to them.
Let’s not go into too much technical details, just abit of my thought regarding this issue. :)
The shoutbox I disabled in my site
I pulled it out of my site because it was redundant. I have comment boxes for every article and blog post on my site. If anyone sees the need to respond, use it because that’s what it was designed for. And if someone needs to contact me, the contact page serves a purpose.
I’m not ruling out the possibility that the shoutbox will return, but I don’t see a need to rush into implementing it now.
The shoutbox in future?
A few weeks back I started the change for it to support multi-user. Not very successful because of several limitations of knowing the scripting languages on my part. I’m still working on it but as you can tell, procrastination is born in me. ;)
But I’ll be sure to get it ready for usage before I am admitted into the National Service. Don’t give up on me, my beta testers!
A little of what I’m doing now
Other than (trying to) work on the multi-user shoutbox, I’m writing a story. It’s nascent so I shall not talk about it too much now. Time will tell what I will finally deliver.
Oh, and not forgetting I’m also busy at doing nothing and trying to enjoy life my way. Oh, so many things so little time! ;)
